About The Artist
When I came up with this idea, I was a new photographer and a new mother. Even after standing in a three-hour line with a newborn, and breastfeeding four times in line, I returned to the dreaded mall for yet another round of pictures. This time my daughter was just over a year old and walking. My husband and I struggled to keep her entertained, and after two and a half hours, we finally managed a quick 30 seconds with Santa. I talked with several parents during our wait and everyone agreed “There had to be something better than this!” Most of us were trying to keep our little ones entertained, happy…clean! But the majority of us were just trying to hold onto our sanity.
I watched, with my one child, as parents with two, three and four children wiped snot from their child’s faces and packed them full of snacks to keep them happy. The babies all looked exhausted from being trucked around in the stroller and the kids impatiently tugged at their parents, “Is it our turn yet?” After collecting our very mobile daughter, diaper bag, random shopping bags and prints we headed to have a bite and celebrate the “fun” that we had just partaken in. I replayed the conversation between myself and the other parents with my husband and we discussed how different that situation could have looked had we have had an appointment with Santa… This is when I came up with the idea for Santa By Appointment.
I could barely contain my excitement as I blurted out all the different ways we could make this successful. How gratifying it would be to be able to tell all those parents “Come on through” and “You’re up next!” We then created our own fantasy business plan and Awwwed over how cool it would be if we could get it off the ground. One year later, after my husband (a teacher) went on strike and we had built up a fare amount of debt being on maternity and starting out a family…. a little ray of sunshine poked through our front door. We managed to get the funding for this fantastic little plan we had created and somehow launched it off in time for the season.
Now, twelve years, 6 locations, and hundreds of regular clients later we have built a steady foundation full of traditions and memories that will last a lifetime. Our return clients have become like family and I can’t even begin to express how much you all mean to me. It has been a lot of work but I a feel so lucky to be able to provide a FUN and ENJOYABLE experience with Santa; a place where your kids can actually sit, where mom can breastfeed peacefully, where dad can relax while everyone enjoys the real magic of Christmas. This is our dream, and our hope, for your family and ours.

Tips for a Successful Visit
Our appointments are booked back to back so IF YOU SHOW UP MORE THEN 5 MINUTES LATE YOU WILL BE BUMPED AND YOUR TIME SLOT IS NON REFUNDABLE. In order to ensure everyone gets their fare share of time with Santa we HAVE to stay on schedule. A few tips to make it easier on you and your family:
- Arrive at least 5 minutes early, and wait in your vehicle until 2 minutes before your appointment.
- Come ready so you can ensure you get your full time with Santa. If you need to tap into your session time to change/use the bathroom, that will mean we have less time to shoot.
- PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE EDIT THE PHOTOS ON THE SPOT SO THE SHOOTING TIME IS A MAX OF 4-6 MINS. We are always back to back with bookings and need to stay on track in order to keep your experience smooth and easy.
- Be excited! This is a very different experience then the mall. Stress free and fun!
- If you have any questions or concerns, please voice them at least 24 hours in advance.

How much time do we have with Santa?
Your 15 minute appointment is spent entirely with Santa. We spend 3-6 MINUTES OF SHOOTING TIME and then while the photographer edits/processes your images you can enjoy the rest of your visit asking him questions and hanging out with the big red and white in an intimate relaxed setting. Though the photographer only has a MAX time to take the pictures, we totally welcome iPhone/personal camera shots AFTER she is done shooting.
Can we take selfies with Santa while we wait for you to edit?
Only if you tag us on Facebook or Instagram after!! We welcome fun with Santa and he has been practicing his selfie smile ALL YEAR!

What if we show up late?
If you show up more than 5 minutes late you WILL BE BUMPED AND YOUR TIME SLOT IS NON REFUNDABLE. The reason we are able to make these TIME slots for you is because we stick to a schedule. How do I get to your shop?
SUPER EASY!! We are located at Studioture -2547 Montvue Avenue Abbotsford, BC . Right at the corner of Montvue Ave. and Gosling Way. The studio door is around back. Parking can be tricky in Downtown Abbotsford but there is a lot on the side street. Give yourself extra time, just in case. Refer to the map above for building access and parking.
How many people can we bring to sit with Santa?
We welcome a few quick family shots with Santa, but keep in mind our set is designed for children and only allows a maximum of 5 people.
Can we have a family shot with Santa as well as individual shots of each child?
This all depends on time and how fast we can shoot it. Some children take longer to warm up to Santa. The number of photos you get has always only been guaranteed as 1 photo, however in the past I have included a generous amount of poses. This year, we will have a laminated checklist sheet of poses to pick from and a you get to choose three. If we feel we have time to do a few extra poses we will absolutely throw them in. If we do not have time, we will at least shoot your top favorites!
How many photos do we get?
This all depends on time and how fast we can shoot it, but we only guarantee one. Some children take longer to warm up to Santa then others but our goal is to give you at least three to choose from!
Are siblings allowed in the same shot?
Are cousins allowed in the same shot?
We don’t allow cousins in the same shot or else we would be getting multiple families and it would not be enough time for the photographer to shoot/edit/process the images. IF YOU WANT A SHOT WITH COUSINS/FRIENDS: you can book multiple sessions back to back and let us know ahead of time what your vision is like. Can parents be in the shot?
If I can't make my spot can I give it away to a friend?
Does Santa have a real beard?
Sure Does!
How do we get our photos?
Digital copies are included in your package at no charge if you bring your own flash drive. If you forget your flash drive we will have them for sale at the Studio for $10 cash or e-transfer
Can I reschedule my appointment if something goes wrong? Will it cost me?
When you get your confirmation email, there will be a link at the bottom that says ‘reschedule’. This link will take you to the booking page and allow you to pick a new time. This will not cost you extra however if it is less than 24 hours notice this feature will be turned off. We understand completely that emergencies happen and we also know it is sick season. How do I cancel my appointment? And will I get a refund?
Can I bring my pets to the studio?
NO! While we would love all your fur babies to join in the festivities, because our sessions are back to back and we have a white set, we cannot risk an accident happening. As well as we wouldn’t have time in between sessions to sanitize if there were to be an allergy.
Is it the same Santa as last year?
Yes! Santa Gerry is in for another year!!
Will the set be the same as last year?
Indeed it will! As requested by plenty of our return clients, we like to keep consistency so that you can put up your photos side by side every year with continuity!
What size of flash drive should I bring?
A 32 G would be ideal as I size the images quite large
Can we wear shoes in the photo?
Please bring a pair of indoor shoes with you as the set is white and we want to keep it that way
